A cool front moved into the area and this will affect our temperatures and rain chances in the Ozarks.

Temperatures have backed down quite a bit for today. Expect highs to be running about 10 degrees cooler than the previous 4-5 days. This will put us in the lower 80’s. Nineties won’t be back until Friday and the weekend.

Rain today will mostly be confined to areas south and southwest of Springfield. Some thunder will be mixed in from time to time too.

The front will stall near the Ozarks which will allow rain and storms to spread over the area again starting on Wednesday. The best chances for rain this week will be Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot temperatures return to the Ozarks this weekend!

It was a hot and humid weekend in the Ozarks as high temperatures soared into the nineties with oppressive humidity.

This pattern will begin to break down this week as a front moves into the Ozarks.

Today, the Heat Advisory is still in effect for all of southwest Missouri. Look for heat index values to peak in the 100-105° range during the late afternoon and evening hours.

After today, high temperatures will back off. I expect daytime readings in the 80’s for most of the week.

Showers and storms will begin to increase over the area as the front hangs around.  Generally, 1-3″ of rain can be expected this week over the Ozarks.

However, it is always difficult to point out exactly where individual areas of rain and storms may dump several inches of rain over a period of hours and that threat does exist for the area over the next several days.
